The best portfolio tracker for European investors in 2026

For an investor holding accounts at two or more European brokers — DEGIRO, XTB, Trading 212, Revolut, Trade Republic, a crypto exchange — the best portfolio tracker in 2026 is the one that reads all of those exports into one history, converts every day at that day's rate, and puts the analysis and an assistant that reads that portfolio on the same screen. That is what Fortunest was built for, and it is our pick: the assistant answers on your own numbers rather than in general — explain this metric, filter my holdings by a sentence, look up any company's quote, news, earnings and its latest filing — and on Pro the same portfolio opens to Claude Code, Codex or another MCP agent. getquin, Parqet, Portfolio Performance, Sharesight, Ghostfolio, Capitally and Snowball each lead a row below, and the table says which.

The short answer

The Fortunest Portfolio tab on a four-account demo portfolio: value and day change, cash, total P/L with TWR and IRR, the value chart against the S&P 500 and MSCI World, a sector heatmap, the allocation card and the AI assistant docked on the right
Fortunest's Portfolio tab on the demo portfolio (four accounts: a broker, a neobank, an exchange and a US broker) — the live app on 7 September 2026.

The comparison

Each cell is what the vendor's own pages say, in the vendor's terms, on the date in the footnote. Not described means the page does not mention it; not checked means we did not verify it and you should. A green ✓ marks whichever product leads a row on that row's own terms — sometimes ours, often not.

Cells were checked against the sources below on 7 September 2026 (getquin, Portfolio Performance, Sharesight and Ghostfolio on 19 August 2026, as on our landing-page comparison). Prices are each vendor's list price before promotions and, for Fortunest, before VAT. "Not described" is a statement about those pages on that date, not about the product. All eight ship continuously.

The verdicts

Fortunest — our pick

Best for: several European brokers plus an exchange, and wanting the analysis and an assistant on one screen.

Free without an account · Pro €6.99/mo or €69/yr

You drop the CSV exports your brokers already give you — DEGIRO, XTB, Revolut, eToro, Trading 212, Trade Republic, Saxo and twenty-odd more — connect Kraken, Binance or Coinbase with a read-only key, and the engine rebuilds one history: transfers between your own accounts matched so nothing is counted twice, every day converted at that day's rate, returns as both TWR and IRR, seven benchmarks fed the same deposits you made. The assistant sits beside every tab, answers about your holdings rather than the market in general, and can change the dashboard when you ask; on the desktop app it runs on a local model and the portfolio never leaves the machine. What that buys you day to day is specific: ask what your Sharpe ratio or your fair-value gap actually means and the explanation is built from the numbers the card is showing; ask for your worst performers this year and it sets the holdings filter; name any company, held or not, and you get the live quote, the headlines, the next earnings date and the company's own results filing from the SEC. On Pro the same portfolio is reachable from Claude Code, Codex or another MCP client, with sensitive changes shown for approval before they run — the setup is in the MCP guide.

Where it falls short: no native mobile app yet (the web app is built for phones, an app is in development); the tax tab's default rulebook is the Czech one — every threshold is a setting, but there are no per-country presets; the MCP server for external agents needs Pro; and it does not connect to banks, only to brokers and exchanges.

getquin

Best for: the most connections and a community, hosted in Germany.

Free plan · Premium €89.99/yr · Wealth €149.99/yr

getquin's strength is breadth: over two thousand bank and broker connections with read-only access, apps on both phone platforms, and a feed where you follow other investors and argue about single stocks. Returns come as IRR and TWR against a benchmark, and the data is stated to sit in Germany and Europe under AES-256.

Where it falls short: AI analysis is a Premium feature and unlimited "agents" a Wealth one, so the assistant costs from €89.99 a year; risk metrics and tax reporting are not described on its pages; an account is required before you see anything.

Parqet

Best for: German-speaking investors who import PDF statements from German brokers.

Basis €0 · Plus €11.99/mo · Investor €29.99/mo

Parqet reads statements — PDF as well as CSV — from more than fifty brokers and syncs five German ones automatically (Trade Republic, Scalable Capital, ING, comdirect, Consorsbank). It supports over forty currencies, and the Plus plan adds an X-Ray, dividend forecasting and a German tax dashboard covering sales, dividends and withholding tax. It shipped integrations with ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity in 2026, which its pricing page lists but does not describe.

Where it falls short: the free tier is one portfolio with five extra assets and two integrations; the site and the tax logic are German-first; where the data is hosted is not stated on the pricing page.

Portfolio Performance

Best for: free, open source, and a file on your own disk.

Free — EPL 1.0

The reference tool for European DIY investors for a decade: a desktop program for Windows, macOS and Linux, nothing held back, no account, no service, your portfolio in a file you back up yourself. It imports CSV and PDF statements, benchmarks against an index, reports volatility, semivariance and maximum drawdown, and rebalances to your target allocation.

Where it falls short: you do the importing and the fixing; the mobile app its site links (September 2026) is a separate companion rather than the desktop program on a phone; there is no projection, no tax report beyond tax and fees per transaction, and no assistant of any kind. Price lookups still go out to data providers.

Sharesight

Best for: tax and performance reports you hand to an accountant.

Free up to 10 holdings · from US$7/mo, annual

Sharesight is the incumbent, and its reporting is the reason: performance, dividend, diversity and tax reports, a capital-gains calculator, and automatic imports from more than two hundred brokers. Trade-file import has an AI importer in beta.

Where it falls short: the free plan stops at ten holdings and one portfolio; benchmarks and risk metrics are not described; there is no portfolio assistant; and the privacy policy states data is stored in the United States and disclosed to analytics and advertising partners — worth reading before an EU investor uploads a full history.

Ghostfolio

Best for: self-hosting on your own server.

Self-hosted free — AGPL-3.0 · Cloud Premium from US$48/yr, one-time

Open source and built for Docker: run it on your own hardware and the data never leaves it, sign in with an anonymous token rather than an email, import CSV or JSON or push transactions through the REST API. Benchmarks, an X-ray for cluster risk and fees, and a FIRE calculator are included.

Where it falls short: no broker connections at all — every trade arrives by file or API; no in-app assistant (an experimental prompt you copy out); and the hosted Basic tier is transactions, accounts and performance, with the summary, allocations and benchmark views on Premium — self-hosting is where everything is free.

Capitally

Best for: on-device encryption and an offline mobile web app.

14-day trial · Sailor, Navigator and Captain plans

Capitally (Warsaw) encrypts your data on your device — "we just can't read it" — imports CSV, Excel, JSON and XML and a growing list of broker and exchange integrations, tracks FIFO cost basis and withholding tax with a growing set of tax jurisdictions, and offers tax-loss harvesting on its top plan. The interface is available in six languages.

Where it falls short: no free tier beyond the trial, and the plan prices were not readable on the pricing page we fetched — check them there; no AI features are mentioned; returns and risk metrics were not checked.

Snowball Analytics

Best for: dividend investors.

Free — 1 portfolio, 10 holdings · Starter US$79.99/yr · Investor US$149.99/yr · Expert US$249.99/yr

Snowball, a French company, is a dividend tracker first: a calendar, received payouts, a rating system, custom withholding tax and backtesting for dividend portfolios with up to thirty years of history on the higher plans. Apps on both phone platforms, brokerage linking from the Starter plan, and data stated to be depersonalised and encrypted at rest, with broker credentials never stored.

Where it falls short: everything is priced in dollars and the free tier stops at ten holdings; the broker list and any API details are not described; no AI features are mentioned.

Also considered

AllInvestView — web, iOS and Android, a free tier of ten holdings, forty-plus linked brokers from the Starter plan, multi-currency over eighty exchanges, an AI assistant on every plan and tax reports for twelve-plus jurisdictions, per its pricing page; the plan prices themselves were not readable when we fetched it. Kubera and Delta are aimed at net-worth and crypto tracking respectively and are covered in the multi-currency and stocks-and-crypto guides.

Fortunest's holdings table on the demo portfolio: filters, asset-type chips, the averages row and columns for quantity, price, value, daily and total P/L, return, weight, TER and account badges
The holdings table: every position across four accounts, in one currency, with the fee a fund costs you a year beside its return.

How we compared

We picked the eight products European investors most often weigh against each other in forums and in the answers of the AI assistants people now ask instead of searching, and read each vendor's own pricing, features and privacy pages. Where a page says nothing about a row, the cell says so — "not described" is about the page, not the product. We build Fortunest, so we are not neutral; the table is meant to be checkable rather than impartial, and every product's own limits are stated in its verdict, including ours.

Questions people ask

Which portfolio tracker works with DEGIRO?

DEGIRO offers no API for private accounts and is not on SnapTrade, so no tracker syncs it live — every one of them reads DEGIRO's CSV export. Fortunest reads the Transactions export or the Account statement (the Czech-locale files included) and matches transfers between accounts; Portfolio Performance and Parqet import the same files. The step-by-step is in the DEGIRO guide.

Is there a free portfolio tracker for European investors?

Three real options: Portfolio Performance is free and open source with nothing held back; Ghostfolio is free when you host it yourself; Fortunest's free plan needs no account and covers the whole dashboard, the assistant, three accounts and fifty assets. The paid trackers cap the free tier at ten holdings (Sharesight, Snowball) or one portfolio with five extra assets (Parqet). More in the free trackers guide.

Which tracker converts currencies correctly?

The test is whether a position bought in dollars three years ago is valued at that day's rate in the history, not today's. Fortunest converts every day at that day's rate, including London pence listings, into any display currency. Parqet states support for over 40 currencies; the other vendors' pages do not describe the conversion method, so check with your own history. The multi-currency guide goes into the arithmetic.

Which portfolio trackers keep my data in Europe or on my device?

On your device: Portfolio Performance (a file on your disk), Fortunest's desktop app (a local database, nothing on any server), Ghostfolio self-hosted, and Capitally, which encrypts on the device. In Europe: getquin states its servers are in Germany and Europe; Snowball (a French company) does not describe its hosting location. Sharesight states it stores data in the United States and discloses it to analytics and advertising partners. See the privacy-first guide.

Do any of these handle European capital-gains tax?

Partly, and none files a return. Sharesight produces tax reports for an accountant, Parqet's Plus plan has a German tax dashboard, Capitally tracks FIFO cost basis and withholding tax. Fortunest's Pro plan pairs every sale with the lots it consumed and applies a holding-period test, with one configurable rulebook whose defaults are the Czech rules — a holding period, a proceeds threshold and a flat rate — so it fits countries with rules of that shape and gives accurate lot pairing everywhere else.
